We're here to help you address any work or learning-related concerns at Duke.

At the heart of our mission lies a four-fold purpose, designed to support and empower our Duke community:

Our Four-Fold Purpose

Provide a space for individuals and groups to discuss their experiences and facilitate constructive problem solving.

Assist faculty, staff, and students in navigating the decentralized system by bridging the gap between the formal and informal.

Serve as a catalyst for change by identifying emerging trends that may impact the entire university community.

Promote a conflict competent culture that is resilient, flexible and collaborative through customized workshops.

We're here to support you in a variety of ways.

  • Help you think through and evaluate possible options
  • Provide information about Duke policies and procedures
  • Assist in preparing for an important conversation
  • Facilitate conversations between two or more people
  • Make referrals to other university resources
  • Recommend policy changes when appropriate
  • Suggest constructive processes for addressing
    challenging issues

What We Can’t Do

  • Offer legal advice
  • Establish, change, or set aside policies
  • Accept formal complaints
  • Participate in any formal process, inside or outside of the University, as a witness or otherwise
